OMG!

ADMONISH??? REALLY???

This is so outrageously unexpected that I'm beside myself:

http://www.merriam-webster.com/info/09words.htm

But then again, I'm biased. ;-)

SPF

p.s. no need to disclose T and F in 2009 -- later is better.

kg,

Short for Kagey (aka Cagey)? Probably not the Kevin Garnett that I know.

Good guesses methinks. Mostly good… 8700 seems low to me right now.

Looking backwards, I think we’ll need to disqualify previous Word(s)-of-the-Year – after all, “bailout” already won in 2008.

That still leaves you with 8 good guesses.

My stock plan worked out well – here’s what I bought:

TREE at $2.11
GOOG at $311
AAPL at $91.49

I hope I’m wrong, but I sense some hostility in your comment – I hope not to fan those flames, even if I do not provide the best date(s) to sell the above-named stocks in the future.

S,

How's your "Buy Stocks Now" plan working out? A while back you were waxing double-positive about what a great time it was to buy into the market. If I recall, the DOW was around 8700 when the advice was dispensed.

I would say the word for the year will be one of these:

depression
nationalization
socialism
takeover
deflation
unemployment
bailout
regulation
universal (as in healthcare)

Well I know what T is but don’t know what the F is :)

I won't spill the beans just yet!

I believe the word of the year will be "Change" or "Obama"

Sean- I don’t think the folks that decide the word will get that sophisticated based on the T; they have to use a word that the entire population uses regularly throughout the year.

If January is any indication of what is to come this year, my early prediction would be the word "stimulus."

T and F -- you've got me there SPF.
