		<description>Good Find Scott. I hadn&#039;t heard of those guys, and it does look quite similar. Another approach that intrigues me is location based advertising services. A co-worker returned from the U.K. recently and told me about their cell phones receiving SMS Ads when they entered a shopping mall. It seemed to be location based, but they weren&#039;t sure how it was being done.

In my research, I did find a similar Bluetooth solution at http://proximitymedia.com/ which seems pretty cool.

When a consumer with a Bluetooth phone enters the range of one of their servers, the server asks for permission to connect. If allowed to connect, it grabs the ID of the phone, checks it DB to see if any history with that device, and delivers ads accordingly.

(Since I&#039;ve had my EDU hat on lately) Depending on the range of these systems, would be a cool way for a University to grab the attention of everyone within a certain radius of their campus....&quot;Thinking of going back to School?  Well, your only minutes from one the best school in the Universe.... stop in and check us out, or better yet, click here to Call!&quot;

		<description>If you like this technology, which after some investigating isn&#039;t even out there yet you&#039;d love Cellfire, www.cellfire.com or text 22888 from your phone ..their the only authentic mobile couponing company in the mobile space. Best of all, its up and running right now, and it doesn&#039;t mattter what mobile carrier you use, Cellfire delivers coupons on an opt in basis right to your mobile phone...

		<description>BSO,

This is a great post.

I agree – I have been equally surprised by mobile advertising. That said, I too have remained quite bullish about the space since a mobile device represents something that still today most PCs and Laptops are not configured to perform – LIVE VOICE communications!

A live voice lead is always more valuable than just data alone. The combination of live voice AND data is likely to be explosive.

What seems so interesting to me about Mobile Posse is that they are putting advertisers front-and-center (even above the carrier&#039;s default software, in terms of consumer touch).

This will indeed be great for geo-targeted coupon advertisers, but it also signals a paradigm shift.

If Mobile Posse succeeds, I believe we will ALL benefit. :-)
